Character Is What You Are In The Dark
As much as my style tends to appear rather feminine and my penchant for vintage dresses, this dress with the growling panther on the front of it is actually the single most worn piece in my wardrobe (just look at one remix & I've worn it a half dozen times since that post). It's slightly darker than many of my pieces, but the quirky nature of it is quite within the range of my usual style; I love interesting details. I never want to dress too saccharine--I actually avoid pink, bows, and ruffles; basically anything that might make me appear like a girly-girl. Nothing wrong with that type of girl of course, it's just not a figure I personally identify with...regardless of my penchant for dresses and heels. This particular slightly-grunge inspired look seemed well suited for the abandoned trains here. I've explored a couple of different ones now, but I find the chipping blue interior and rusting red and mustard exterior of this one the most visually interesting.

The Ghost Who Walks
There's something sweetly childlike and optimistic about these drawings by ghost patrol, although some of his pieces do have a more eerie feel to them. Still, I'd like to bridle a bird or share a milkshake with a creature of the wild. Until such a time comes to pass I'll have to live vicariously through these charming illustrations.

A Horse Without A Bridle
My horse collection is coming along slowly but surely. Right now, it is limited to wardrobe items--no point in gathering figurines when your home changes so frequently, but I'm quite excited every time I see a horse print item in a store. This sweater isn't new, but it's definitely one of my favorites for fall. I'm quite fond of subtle, but pretty color combinations like this mustard yellow with the grey jeans and then a touch of red on my lips. I'm hunting for the perfect berry stain for autumn and winter, but until I find it I'll opt for my old reliable red by Clinque.

Marais USA Fall 2011
While in New York I stopped by the Steven Alan showroom to meet the ladies behind Marais USA and preview their spring collection. I can't share the spring pieces just yet, but I was equally excited to see their Fall collection in person. The fall they whipped up so many lovely shoes in rich shades of brown, mustard, and grey--some delightfully finished with little studs. True to Marais's philosophy, none of their shoes cost more than $165 and their most covetable pair (an updated version of the chelsea boot) is just $145.
A Season Passes Away
Since the official onslaught of Fall we've had nearly non-stop rain; it's rather making me feel as if I'm in Washington State again especially with how green everything is remaining. Still, dreary days are affording me an opportunity to wear some of my sweaters and I'm rather accustomed to taking pictures in the rain--it was drizzling on me while I snapped these. It continues to look more like spring than fall here, but I am beginning to indulge in my favorite autumnal treats. It is the season to bake.

Common Sense Is The Collection Of Prejudices
I'm quite charmed by the collections in Katsuya Kamo's house which were recently photographed by the Selby. I find boxes of butterflies to be a little depressing, but don't empathize with beetles in the same way (no legitimate reason why), so the majority of these boxes are ones I would love to hang on my walls. I do hope to have a cluttered little apartment one day when I stop moving long enough to collect dust.
When Is There Time To Remember
Sunset is sneaking up on me lately. Daylight fades before I feel I've gotten a proper grasp on the day, but I suppose we can never really hold on to something as fleeting as time or insubstantial as light. Anyway, the point is I need to start adjusting my schedule so that I take photographs before twilight or else buy a nice flash for my camera!
