Sunday Remix

This post feels a bit like cheating since when I write remix posts I usually try to showcase the versatility of a piece; I like to show how a dress can be worn layered beneath sweaters or over blouses. In all my frequent wearings of this dress (and it was easily my most worn dress this fall and winter), I haven't really changed the way it is presented. The most variety I offer is in the colored tights I paired it with. Still, it's a great little dress by Family Affairs (named after one of my favorite authors). So, I suppose this is more of a "repeat" post than a "remix."

Sunday Remix

A simple solid colored dress (like mine from Topshop) is really a great investment. When I think about investment pieces I don't really think about designer buys, but just an item that I will wear again and again--it doesn't have to cost a lot because really every penny you spend matters. Anyway, when I saw this dress I just knew it would be the sort of item I could wear in a variety of styles.

Sunday Remix

I recently got this dress from Modcloth and couldn't resist doing a little remix around it. I don't normally wear strapless dresses (they're incredibly hard to find with a good fit if you're the slighest bit busty), but I thought I'd take a chance on this one and I'm quite glad I did. I will be taking it in slightly, but right now it works perfectly with a variety of pieces layered over top or underneath.

Sunday Remix

I found this cardigan in a vintage store in Portland and knew it was going to become a staple in my wardrobe immediately. The color works nicely with a variety of palettes but the varsity stripes keep it distinctive. It just goes to show that when choosing layering pieces like cardigans or jackets that unique ones with personality are just as easy to wear as a plain basic, but much more interesting.

Sunday Remix

This ruffle dress from Built by Wendy has seen quite a bit. It's traveled abroad with me and moved across the country; clothes can have their fair share of adventures too. That's part of the pleasure of re-wearing clothes--you can put on a dress or pair of shoes and they will jog the memory of the last time you wore it, or the first time you wore it, or something special that happened to you when you had it on. There are certain dresses I don't even like to wear anymore but I keep in my closet because they remind me of certain nights I don't want to forget.

Sunday Remix

This is a great little dress from Trashy Diva; I've worn it more times than I care to count but I still haven't gotten tired of it. Here's a little remix featuring my favorite stylings.

Sunday Remix

Due to the name of my blog, I'm quite a sucker for horse print clothes. I don't really collect anything besides clothes right now (I move too much to tote knick-knacks around), so my horses are limited to things I can wear lately. This is a custom dress from Lalouka and it has become one of my favorites no matter the season.

Sunday Remix

One of my favorite pieces to wear this fall/winter has been this fairisle sweater from ASOS. The colors were so seasonally appropriate for fall and the fit is perfectly relaxed and cozy. Here are a few ways I've worn it so far.

Sunday Remix

As I mentioned previously, one of my favorite purchases of 2011 was this paint-splattered dress by Wren. I haven't really worn it a ton of times yet (I think I like it best as a spring or summer dress and I bought it in the fall), but here are a few ways I have worn it so far. It's definitely a stand out piece and it makes me feel like working on creative projects!

Sunday Remix

This past summer I was on the hunt for the perfect red dress and I finally snagged this one from Zara (before they had a website through a friend). Unfortunately, it was a size too large so it took some major alterations--shortening the torso, taking in the sides, adjusting the sleeve length, etc. However, with all that complete it is nearly my perfect little red dress. I've been wearing it with layers this fall and winter as well. The pictures are posted in chronological order (remember when I had hair?).

Sunday Remix

One of my favorite purchases this fall was this plaid dress from ASOS. There really isn't a more seasonally appropriate fabric than plaid and this dress has all of the qualities of a cozy flannel, but it's finished with a sweet ruffle hem. Definitely a new classic for me that I'll wear fall after fall.

Sunday Remix

I've had this little dress from ASOS for over a year now and it's the perfect piece no matter the season. Navy dresses are just as flexible (if not more) to wear than black ones, but perhaps slightly harder to find.

Sunday Remix

For my second post on the return of weekend remixes it's another horse sweater. I only have two of them, but I wouldn't even be embarrassed if I had a dozen (I was actually wearing this sweater when I met someone and explained I wrote a blog named "the clothes horse" and they were all, "oh, I see"); the sweater is from ASOS. These photos are posted in reverse chronological order, so once again you can see what I looked like when I had hair.

Sunday Remix

It's been awhile since I shared a remix, but I'm going to try to bring them back (for awhile anyway). I acquired this adorable PJ by Peter Jensen sweater over the summer and wore it rather immediately with shorts, since then I've enjoyed styling it as we transitioned into fall and winter. This remix (and the others to come) also rather serves as a hair diary; I've posted the pictures in chronological order so you can see how what was once long is now quite short...

Saturday Remix

One of my favorite fall scarves (and I do have several, because scarves are marvelous things), is this massively cozy cowl from the shop that was formerly YarnOverMovement and is now known as Good Night, Day. It's cream, so quite obviously it goes with nearly every outfit, but here's a little Saturday Remix featuring it anyway!

Saturday Remix

Another Saturday, another remix! I wasn't sure of this dress when I first got it (from Modcloth over a year ago); it's an unusual color for me and the shape is not at all typical of my style, but it's become quite the standby. Here's a few ways I've worn it in the past.
