Happy Halloween

Plunge Into Sublime Seas

I've had these shoes for years now, but I don't wear them much because they're like little straightjackets for your feet. The ideal style for your feet is bare; I don't even want to wander around my house in socks. But since that's usually rather unrealistic, we must don shoes; even so shouldn't we be able to escape these shoes in a timely manner? I like to think so. Still, I'm a sucker for these lace-ups because really anything that seems ballet inspired is aesthetic perfection.

Into The Wild

This lookbook by the Herschel Supply Co is a little more rugged and tomboyish than my personal style, but it certainly makes me want to put on some sensible boots and wander through woods and along rugged shores with someone tall, dark, and handsome...

Scarf Saturday

Overall I prefer chunky, cozy scarves, but I do admire the patterns and pictures you find on some of the fancier ones. These scarves by Age of Reason are 100% silk and feature the most cheeky designs. There's clearly Hermes inspiration lurking in these, but with a twist in subject matter--classic chain designs are morphed into handcuffs and even sweet Russian nesting dolls get a makeover. My favorite design is the punk pug...styled on a pug no less.

Autumn

Traveling Down The Tracks

The shirt and pants felt very Funny Face to me (in the beginning before Audrey is transformed from beatnik to model), but that whole silhouette and feel ended up getting drowned in knits--which isn't a bad way to go, if you think about it. I've really been forcing myself to wear more pants this fall. It's funny how quietly restricting dresses and skirts can be and I never notice until I put on pants or shorts again. I have a friend who claims she can't wear dresses because her body is almost constantly in a comfortable sprawl that would be rather exposing if she was wearing dresses. I don't even notice the way I cross my legs when sitting, or how I'll casually brush my hand against my skirt while walking to make certain it isn't riding up--it all comes naturally at this point. Then I put on a pair of pants and suddenly I feel like I should be climbing over fences (although climbing a fence is how I ripped my favorite pair of jeans--be wary of stray wires with pointy ends)...

See The Sunlight Admist The Mountains

These head-to-toe outfits aren't exactly my cup of tea, but I love the relaxed and rugged vibe from Cardigan's fall lookbook. I admire camping much more in photographs than reality. Their sweaters are certainly covetable though and would translate nicely into every day outfits.

Old Haunts

I paid a visit to the old base where I lived until this summer, so I naturally had to take a few pictures in the moat wall. The base has gotten even quieter than it was before, looking quite like a ghost town now and I was able to wander through all my old haunts completely undisturbed. It was such a fascinating and pretty place to live I'm rather sad I had to move, but I'm still close enough that I can venture back whenever I feel the need for a change of pace.
